A Helpful Guide To Understand Oistins Barbados Fish Fry

Oistins Barbados Fish Fry
If you are coming to stay in Oistins Barbados , you should probably know what Oistins Friday Night Fish Fry is, as it is the biggest and most delicious thing that pulls both tourists and locals to this section of the parish of Christ Church. Throughout the day the town of Oistins is a fishing town where people can come to get local fresh fish. It also holds the annual Oistins Fish Festival.

By the time the weekend comes, starting on Friday evening until Sunday evening, it becomes a place where the nightlife comes alive with music, dancing, craft vendors, and most importantly, fresh authentic Bajan food! You can choose from excellent fish (tuna, swordfish, marlin, mahi-mahi, flying fish), lobster, chicken, etc. served in an extremely informal setting. You can get your fish grilled or fried depending on which vendor you choose from. It's all cooked on the spot in front of you.

Best Food Vendor During Oistins Fish Fry

We have been going to Barbados for a decade now and every Friday night we go to Oistins to get our food. We even plan the dates of our trip around how many Fridays we can get in so we don’t miss a fish fry if we don’t have to. The Oistins Fish Fry has now become so popular, it is the second highest-rated attraction in Barbados, after Harrisons Cave (more on this in another post). There are many food vendors selling food and we will give you a list of all of them but by far the one you HAVE TO GO TO is Uncle George Fish Net Grill located right at the end of the food vendors close to the fish market. You will know it is him as he has the longest line. If you want to get to eat and not have to wait an hour (yes, it takes this long but the food is worth it), you should get there between 6pm and 7pm. If you go to Oistins Barbados Trip advisor his restaurant is 4th out of 26 restaurants in Oistins (although we think he should be number 1).

Please find a list of the most popular Oistins, Barbados restaurants below:

• Chillin & Grillin
• Pat's Place
• Fred's Bar And Restaurant
• Annie’s
• Fred's Bar And Restaurant
• De Red Snapper Bar & Grill
• Sea Water Front
• Grannie's Restaurant

Most of the restaurants are open during the week but this is not always the case, and it depends on the restaurants and when their normal Oistins opening hours are, and that depends on what is going on locally at the time. This timing would usually coincide with events that are happening on the island.

A list of upcoming events can be found here:

Also you will find many vendors selling crafts including jewellery, pottery, ceramics, leather craft, wood carvings, straw craft, clothing and accessories, and original paintings and prints. Great value for some of the crafts you can find here. We have come authentic Bajan artwork hanging up in our condos and they were created by local artists.

How to Get to Oistins Friday Night Fish Fry:
If you are leaving from our condos you need to turn right onto Lower Carters Gap and go straight until you get to Enterprise Road (Highway 7). Make a left and drive until you go past the Oistins Police Station and Oistins Post Office. You will be entering Oistins and parking can be found on the right by Grannies Restaurant .

By ZR Vans or Public Buses:
Both the ZR vans and public buses travel along this Highway 7 road on a daily basis

By Car coming from Bridgetown:

Conclusion

One of the best things about Oistins Friday Night Fish Fry besides the food and the culture is the price. You can get a great meal with a drink and it won’t cost any more than 30-35 bajan dollars. If you have nothing else planned for your Friday night, Oistins is where you want to be.
