A Helpful Guide To Find Banks In Oistins Barbados

Oistins Bank
If you are coming to Oistins Barbados you are going to need money. Many people will bring enough cash money to last for the trip while others may use traveller’s checks if they’re able to obtain them. In most cases however, you won’t be changing your money into Barbados currency (BBD) until you get to the island. Most people will convert money into US as most establishments will accept both US and Barbados dollars. For those who don’t, finding an institution that will change your money into BBD currency is important. Now, while you could use conversion spots in Grantley Adams International Airport they are usually more expensive than if you go to a bank. If you are staying in Oistins there is only one bank you need to go to: CIBC First Caribbean Bank.

CIBC First Caribbean Bank

CIBC First Caribbean Bank is the only bank located in Oistins close to where Oistins Fish Fry occurs which is the most notable tourist attraction in the area. You can see this in the Oistins, Barbados map . The bank itself is the result of a 2002 merger of two of the oldest banks in the region, Barclays PLC Caribbean and Canada’s CIBC West Indies Holdings, both of which had combined experience of nearly 250 years.

Location and Hours of Operation

First Caribbean International Bank (Barbados) Ltd. has its head office at Warrens, St. Michael. It operates ten branches in Barbados one of them being in Oistins. The operating hours of the bank are usually 8 am to 3 pm except on Friday where it is 8 am to 5pm. If you are looking to do any banking on the weekend you are out of luck as they are usually closed.
One thing to keep in mind is to pack your patience. This bank is usually full and if you are going inside to do some banking you will be waiting awhile. Try to plan for at least 20 to 45 minutes in the bank. There is a convenient ATM as well but there is usually a line up for that. You are able to access your own bank account and withdraw money for a fee of 5 US dollars.

The Oistins First Caribbean International Bank is located here .

How to Get to CIBC First Caribbean Bank:

If you are leaving from our condos you need to turn right onto Lower Carters Gap and go straight until you get to Enterprise Road (Highway 7). Make a left and drive until you go past the Oistins Police Station and Oistins Post Office until you see a Rubis gas station. Make a right turn and you will be entering the parking lot.

Other Driving Directions

By ZR Vans or Public Buses:
Both the ZR vans and public buses travel along this Highway 7 road on a daily basis. When you see the Bank on the left or right you can ask for the stop. There is one on either side of the road.

By Car coming from Bridgetown:
If you go into Bridgetown and want to stop in on the way back is to drive along Highway 7 until you reach Oistins. When you see the bank on the left hand side you can make a left into the parking lot.

Other Banks

While the CIBC First Caribbean Bank is the closest bank in Oistins, there are other banks on the island that you can go to if you prefer these organizations to the CIBC option.
Conclusion

When it comes to banking in Oistins, CIBC First Caribbean Bank is your best option due to the convenience and proximity to everything else in Oistins. While there are other banking options, for us it is the easiest one to go to while also buying groceries or stopping off at Miami beach for the day.
