A Helpful Guide To Attractions In St.Lucy Around Oistins Barbados

Everyone who travels to Barbados has their favourite place to stay and while it may be biased, my opinion is that Oistins Barbados is the best option to stay when you come to the island. You’re close to all amenities, beautiful beaches like Miami beach, the famous Oistins Friday Night Fish Fry, and the airport, among other things. With that said, there are many fantastic attractions in other parishes of the island. In the parish of St. Lucy there is one attraction that you must visit while you are on the island.

Animal Flower Cave is found at the cliffs at North Point, St Lucy and is the island’s only accessible sea cave. Coral steps lead down through an opening into the cave where you will see many openings looking out to sea, offering fantastic views, as well as several pools- some of which are deep enough to swim in. The name “Animal Flower Cave” comes from the sea anemones found in the pools. The flower’s tentacles will retract if you touch them. The walls of the cave are full of fascinating formations which have been coloured green and brown by oxidation of copper and iron. The great thing about Barbados is that the island is so small that you can get around the entire island within a couple of hours so getting to St. Lucy is not a long journey.

While at this location there is a restaurant where you can purchase food and drinks and there is a place to sit down outside and eat. You will find a wide array of food options that can range from Jerk Chicken, Pork belly, fresh sea food and many drinks both alcoholic and non-alcoholic to suit the needs of those going to the sight. I have never eaten at the location but the reviews are very good so it is very likely a good place to go while you are in the area. You can find a full copy of the menu here . So, you have the option to bring your own food or purchase food onsite. The cave attraction has great reviews on trip advisor which you can review here .

St. Lucy is located on the northern point of the island. If you are leaving from our condos you need to turn right onto Lower Carters Gap and go straight until you get to Enterprise Road (Highway 7). Make a left and drive until you get to Top Rock roundabout. Take the third exit on the right and drive until you reach Errol Barrow highway and drive until the highway turns into Highway number 2. Continue to drive until highway number 2 turns into Charles Duncan O’Neil highway and continue to drive until it turns into Highway 1B and then it turns into Highway 1C. Highway 1C will then turn into Animal Flower Cave Rd which will take you to your destination. You can find a visual guide here .
